Introducing Laney Michelle Jones

Laney Michelle Jones was born on 3/15/2010 at 7:28 am. She weighed 7.0 pounds and was 18.5 inches long. She has beautiful blue eyes and a full head of dark hair.

We woke up on Monday morning about 3:30 am to get ready for our scheduled c-section. We had to be at the hospital by 5:00 am, and I wanted to be sure to get a shower and put some make-up on before the surgery, because I knew it would be a while until I got to do that again.

Anyway, we arrived and they started the preparation. I got an IV placed and answered a million questions about medical history. About 6:45 I walked into the operating room and they gave me a spinal and an epidural. No, its not a typo, I got both. They wanted to do a spinal for the c-section, because it provides the best anesthesia, but they also wanted to put in an epidural so they could add more medicine if the spinal started wearing off. This is all because I was having two surgeries back-to-back. Most c-sections only require a spinal block. Anyway, this was the worst part of the whole thing in my opinion. I was so scared and nervous, but it was all over soon enough.

Before I knew it, I was on the table and Lance got to come in. They started the surgery right at 7:00, maybe a few minutes later. Laney was born at 7:28, which is when we heard the most adorable sound, her first cry. They cleaned her up and then brought her over to me and I got to talk to her and kiss on her for a few minutes. Then Laney and Lance went to the nursery to do all the baby stuff. I got stitched up and we left the L&D operating room at 8:04 and headed to the main operating room.

We arrived there and my urologist and a whole team were waiting for me and ready to go. Since I was awake, I got to watch the surgery on the monitors. The doctor explained everything to me as he was doing it. It was a great distraction since all I really wanted to do at that moment was hold my baby girl. Nonetheless, he found the stone, took that sucker out (THANK GOODNESSS) and removed the stent. It was a good thing they did put in an epidural, because during the second surgery, the spinal started to wear off and they did have to add more medicine through the epidural.

That was about it. Everything went very smooth, no complications, no deviations from the plan or anything. I am so thankful that everything went as well as it did.

I got to my recovery room by 9:30 and immediately got to hold Laney. It was so amazing! I am sad that I didn't get to hold her right away, but we are thankful for a healthy baby and a healthy mommy!

We stayed in the hospital until Thursday and everyone there took great care of us. We are all at home now and we couldn’t be happier. My recovery is going very good and I feel so much better than I did before.

You won't believe it, but our camera broke the day Laney was born. It still takes pictures, but they are very blurry and out of focus. So, the pictures of her first day aren't that great. But, Lance didn't waste any time getting to the store and getting another camera so we could take lots and lots of pictures of our newest miracle. And without further ado, here they are:
