Gain, baby gain!!!!

If you don't mind, you would mind saying a little prayer for Laney?  She is having a really hard time gaining weight.  She was born at 7 lbs even, then she dropped all the way down to 6 lbs, 6 oz by the time we left the hospital.  Granted, all babies loose weight after birth, but she is at 9% loss.  At 10% the doctors start to get pretty concerned, so she was right there on the border.

Because she was borderline, we saw the pedi on Friday (the day after we left the hospital) and she had gone up to 6 lbs, 7 oz (YAY!).  But, despite having gained an ounce, she had developed jaundice (didn't have it at birth).  So, we had to monitor her and increase her feedings over the weekend and we went back today hoping to hear that the jaundice is gone and she had gained some weight.

Well, unfortunatly that was not the report.  She lost another ounce, so she is back down to 6 lbs, 6 oz and the jaundice only went from a 12.3 to 11.5.  The doctor really wants it closer to 7 or so.

So, now we are supplementing after every nursing session and we are going back tomorrow for another weight check.

Other than the weight, she is perfectly healthy, so that is a huge blessing.  We just need her to gain some weight.
