9 months old

Laney had her 9 month check-up on December 10, 2010.  Here are her stats:

Weight: 17 lbs, 1 oz (25%)
Height: 28 inches (75%)
Head : 42.75 cm (25%)

Brady at 6 months old
Weight: 20 lbs, 8 oz (50%)
Height: 28 inches (50%)

The doctor said that Laney should be eating about 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks.  And that a meal should be about 2 jars (2nd foods size).  I quickly panicked and said that she was eating 3 meals a day, but no snacks and each meal consisted of about 1/2 a jar.

He said that is OK, she just has a petite appetite and as we thought about her history we realized she has had that since the day she was born.  He advised that I cut down on her milk intake to see if she would start eating more.  I have since done that and she is now up to finishing an entire jar for every meal.

I had to take her to the doctor for a sick visit on December 28 (minor cold, nothing serious) and she had already gotten up to 17 lb, 8 oz.  So that is a 7 oz gain in just 18 days - I thought that was good progress.

She is working on learning how to use a cup right now.  For the most part she just chews on the spout (darn teething!) but every now and then she will actually get some water out of her cup.

She is very good at feeding herself finger foods.  She LOVES Gerber Puffs and I always try to give her very tiny bits of whatever we are having for dinner.  Her favorite so far is spaghetti.  I think she likes the long noodles.

She is an expert sitter at this point and starting crawling 2 days before her 9 month birthday.  She is really trying to pull herself up on the furniture, but has only gotten as far as her knees.  I have a feeling it won't be very long till she masters the "pull up".

She got her first tooth on January 2 and I think there are several more trying to pop through as I type.

Her personality is blossoming into the sweetest little girl I have ever known.  She loves to laugh at Brady, everything he does is so funny to her.  She barely "complains" about anything.  I have to watch her very close to make sure I don't miss her getting sick or something.  She can feel terrible and still be just as happy and sweet as ever - so I really have to watch for the physical signs.

You can see in her eyes how much she is learning and absorbing.  She just watches everything that goes on around her.  She espically likes going to basketball games.

Lastly, as of January 3rd, she is offically going to daycare 3 times a week.  She did a great job this week.  She wasn't fussy, loves to play with all the toys they have and doesn't show any stranger anxiety towards her teacher.  The only problem is that she is so excited that she doesn't want to take a nap.  I have a feeling she'll get the hang of daycare napping soon though.  Brady gets to go see her throughout the day, so I feel good knowing that her big bro has already got her back.

I think that is about it!
