Fourth of July 2011

We made a 2 part trip for Forth of July this year.  We took the whole week off and the first part of our trip was to go to Denton to spend time with Aunt Michelle, Uncle Lance and Austin.

We started the fourth of July celebration with a 5K run in the morning.  My sister and I ran together and enjoyed it!  Austin ran with us for the first half mile and then headed back.

Later that night, we went to UNT for their fireworks show.  Try to imagine it - we were on the UNT football field and the fireworks were being launched from the stadium seats, so we were VERY close to the action. It made for a spectacular fireworks show.

Get over here silly boy!

Yay!  We got a family picture!

Just the girls!

More dancing!
It was a late night and before the fireworks were over, Laney feel asleep.  We thought it was amazing that she was able to sleep through all that noise.
Then, we drove to Amarillo to visit some family. We stayed with my Granny and Mom for a few days and really enjoyed it. My Uncle Larry, my cousin Jana, Jana's kids, and my other cousin Kelly's kids (who came with Jana) all came over to Granny's house while we were there.

Is this not the BEST expression ever!?!?!

I never realized how much Jana and I favored each other until I saw this picture and the one right above it next to each other

Sweet cousins! (second counsins???)

Lance - next time try not to look so excited :)

We also took the kids to the Amarillo zoo. The Amarillo zoo is quite small, but it was the perfect thing for a quick trip (because when it's 100 degrees outside, taking an all day trip to anyplace is just not fun).

We also set up Granny's sprinkler and let Brady run through it for a while (I guess Laney was asleep - that is what I get for waiting so long to update the blog).

The last thing we did before leaving Amarillo was to visit Lance's cousins Russ and Tracy (and 5 of their 6 children).  It was wonderful to see them, as well as all the family we saw over the week.

We tackeled the drive home from Amarillo to Austin in an overnight drive.  It was nice to have the kids sleep through 90% of the trip.
