Hello, My Name Is...

We have a name for our baby girl - Laney Michelle Jones.

Laney has been a long time favorite of ours.  Even before we were married, we used to talk about how if we ever had a little girl, we should name her Laney, because its the first part of Lance and the last part of Ronni, pushed together.

We just didn't know how to spell it.  There are so many variations, but our favorites were Laney, Lanie and Lani.  With Lani, we were afraid it would be mis-pronounced as LAH-NEE, instead of LAY-NEE.  Between Laney and Lanie, it was a pretty close race, but we decided on Laney because it is the most common way to spell it (I know what it is like to have your name mis-spelled more often than not) and because it ends with a "Y", like Brady's name.

The middle name, Michelle, was pretty easy too.  I'm pretty sure all of our blog readers know the story about my sister.  If not, well, email me, I'd love to share!  Anyway, I am so incredibly blessed to have found her and she is such a significant person in our lives.  Top that off with the fact that she never had a girl herself (she has 3 boys) and it just seemed to fit.  Plus, Brady has Lance's brothers name as his middle name, so it is neat that Laney will have my sister's name as her middle name.

So, Baby Girl Jones is now officially Laney Michelle Jones!

Also, the coolest thing happened tonight.  We had real-live carolers ring our door bell and sing us a Christmas song.  Isn't that so neat?  It was a group of people from a local church out to spread Christmas cheer - it certainly put a smile on my face.

After they finished up, they moved on across the street and I couldn't help myself, I grabbed the video camera and set out to catch it on tape.  As soon as I hit record, they were finishing up (shucks!).  Then they skipped a few houses (I guess b/c they were dark) and went far enough away where I wasn't sure if you'd be able to hear it or not.

You can't see much (which is why I decided to turn around and get a shot of our own house), but if you listen very closely, you can hear them!

I L-O-V-E her name!! How special to have the combo of both of your names, plus your sister's name. I just love names that have meanings behind them! And I agree with the common spellings--I never had anything with my name on it!! =)

Thanks for sharing--I was eagerly awaiting the announcement!! Love you guys!

I love her name! I think she will feel very honored to have that name. Her Aunt Michelle will spoil her since she is the only girl and she has her name. Very special.

BTW, Alyson...I'm Alyson too! i never had anything with my name on it. My Grandma just kept buying me magnets spelled Alison cause she was mad they didn't spell it right. haha!
